This reporter has been to a lot of Mite hockey games but the team effort by the Mite A Stars observed at Kasabuski today was impressive. They put on a collaborative clinic with an all out assault on the North Andover Knights. Captain James Glowacz led them with a quote from one of the best in the game, Sidney Crosby, "you can't afford to go out there and watch too much. If you get caught watching, you're not going to get the puck and not going to make good plays". James would show them how it's done, lighting the red lamp brightly today with a great effort. The only "watching" this team did was looking for open teammates to pass to, spying an open corner of the net or keeping an eye on their defensive duties. Some amazing passes led to a barrage of goals. Abby Travers continues to have the hot hand with more hardworking goals. Stevie Migliero battled his opponent and then muscled the puck behind the goalie. Joseph and Jonathan Soares produced again with some hard fought corner work, then taking the puck strong to the net. Jack Glowacz loves to find the top corner and he would do so again. Anthony Grabau's play improves weekly and he would drive one home with a sweet shot from the point. Jimmy Driscoll had another game where he was strong on the puck, digging it free and popping it in. Brendan Heffron "watched" his teammates scoring and decided to join in on the fun. He made a few great hockey moves and shifted one past a helpless goalie. Cam and Tim Sullivan each showed some moves of their own, deking out a Knight player and slamming the puck home. Dion Sacca was cheering his team on in spirit, fighting through an illness. It's well known that hockey teams only go as far as their goalie will take them. Mike Murphy took them all the way to a win today with some incredible pad saves. There was no question as to where the game puck would land for this one. Mike earned it and he should proudly display it for all to see! This continuously improving Stars team has taken two out of three. When asked during an interview how they are doing it, the coaches attributed it to hard work and team effort. From the observations at the rink today, those statements were dead on accurate. The Stars will return next week full of turkey to play second place Triton. Most likely the crowd will be "watching" another stellar effort!
