Town's Summer Concert Series Kicks Off Next Week

Summer concerts get underway on Wednesday, July 6

Note: The following is an announcement from the Lynnfield Library Summer Concerts on the Common Committee:

The rock band Evolution kicks off the Lynnfield Library Summer Concert Series on Wednesday July 6 from 6-8 p.m. on the Lynnfield Common and is preceded by Lynnfield’s Independence Day “Horribles Parade” beginning at 5:30 p.m.   Parade registration for this decorated bike and carriage parade begins at 5 p.m. for a fee of $3 per child in front of the Historical Commission house (next to Town Hall).   Ribbons will be awarded for various categories and different age groups prior to the band playing at 6 p.m.

Evolution has performed at many Lynnfield fundraisers and functions, and continues to be a favorite at the Concert Series.  Comprised primarily of Lynnfield High School alumni, this classic rock band plays songs from the 60s to the present.  Many members continue to play as a hobby or work professionally in the music industry.  Musicians Gary Hall, Charles “Kook” Lawry, Jon Craig, Don Walden, Guy Groendall,  and Paul Soares have been together for over thirty years.

This week’s band is co-sponsored by Northrup Associates Realtors and Cervizzi’s Martial Arts.  The newly formed Lynnfield Rotary Interact Club, a club of mainly high school students, will run the refreshment table featuring Kayem hot dogs, snacks and drinks.  Cervizzi’s will also perform a martial arts demonstration as the intermission entertainment.

In keeping with the 4th of July theme, the Lynnfield Public Library Concerts on the Common Committee is sponsoring a children’s coloring table for thank you notes and/or pictures to be created during the concert which will be sent to our troops overseas.  Kid’s patriotic tattoos will also be available.
