Traces WWII Museum Visits Lynnfield Tuesday

Traveling museum will be on Lynnfield Common from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. and 4-7 p.m.

On Tuesday, local residents will be able to visit the Traces WWII Museum and its exhibit "Held On The Homefront: German POWs in the United States, 1943-1946."

The exhibit will be on the Lynnfield Common.

The museum is located on a bus that includes a 21-seat theater, with the exhibit featuring various artifacts, media and narrative texts. The exhibit runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 4-7 p.m.

The event is sponsored by the Friends of the Lynnfield Library and Lynnfield Veterans Affairs.

According to promotional materials for the event, there were more than 600 POW camps across the United States that held about 380,000 Germans during the course of the war. Massachusetts was reportedly home to 11 of these camps,  while there was also one in Stark, New Hampshire.
