VIDEO: Will MarketStreet Eventually Have Bus Service?
The MBTA and National Development have indicated so far there are no plans for a bus stop at MarketStreet Lynnfield. Others aren't so sure.
Last week, Lynnfield residents Wally McKenzie and Joe DeMaina spoke with this website about their concerns over a proposal by National Development to add what is described as a specialty cinema to Phase 2 of MarketStreet Lynnfield.
During that conversation, the two maintained that it's just a matter of time until MBTA bus service comes to Lynnfield - possibly by extending service from the Hannaford's on Route 1 Saugus down Walnut Street. However, in follow-up inquiries with both National Development and the MBTA, this website was told that there are no current plans for bus service at MarketStreet Lynnfield.
In these two video clips from Monday's occasionally heated selectmen's meeting, DeMaina indicates that an MBTA source has told him the bus idea has been discussed, and points out that service exists at all other malls in the state. Ted Tye, managing partner of National Development, says that there are no plans for bus service at the site, and that workers are expected to rely on their own transportation, as well as other things like rideshare programs.
