• Recreational scalloping season kicks off (ack.net) — Recreational scalloping is now underway around Madaket and Nantucket, but early reports say Madaket Harbor is yielding sparse hauls compared with much fuller baskets at Pocomo Point. Local and part-time residents share mixed success, while officials remind shellfishers about permit requirements, catch limits, legal scallop sizes, and the season running through March 31, with commercial scalloping to follow in November.
