Meet First Responders At Malden Public Safety Night Next Month (patch.com) — Malden families are invited to Public Safety Day at Linden School Park on Sunday, Oct. 4, where local police, fire, EMS, and DPW crews will showcase vehicles, equipment, and safety demonstrations. Kids can enjoy Touch-a-Truck, face painting, and treats, while adults access free car seat checks and learn about fire prevention. Malden homeowners 65 and older can also schedule complimentary smoke detector checks and installations.
2. Car Crashes Into Malden Mexican Restaurant (patch.com) — A vehicle crashed through the front entrance of Santa Fe Burrito Grill and Bar on Pleasant Street in Malden, but no injuries were reported to the driver, pedestrians, or diners. Malden police and firefighters responded, briefly closing part of Pleasant Street and restricting pedestrian access while debris was cleared and the SUV was towed away.
3. Malden Soccer rolls in season opener, 4-1 win over Malden Catholic (advocatenews.net) — Malden High's boys soccer team opened its season with a strong 4–1 home win over Malden Catholic, powered by two goals from co-captain Juan Caballero Valencia. Fellow captain Abdul Kalefa and junior Giuseppe Varges Concha also scored, while goalie Wender De Abreu Moura anchored a solid defensive effort as the Tornados head into a busy early-season schedule.
4. Violators in five states are under PACA restrictions (bluebookservices.com) — A Malden-based business, Hong Kong Supermarket of Malden LLC, is among several produce companies in five states sanctioned by the USDA under the Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act for failing to pay a reparation award. The action suspends its PACA license and restricts its principal from produce-industry work without USDA approval, underscoring federal enforcement of prompt payment rules in the produce marketplace.
