MALDEN, MA — A man has been arrested in connection with a reported shooting on Broadway, the Malden Police Department announced Thursday.
The 47-year-old Saugus resident was taken into custody on Wednesday evening, Oct. 21, in the 400 block of Broadway following an investigation into a reported shooting in the 500 block of the street. Police said they arrested the man after a brief negotiation.
He was subsequently transported to the Malden Police Station for booking on an outstanding arrest warrant related to the investigation and is expected to be arraigned in Malden District Court.
Malden police's Patrol Division, Criminal Investigations Division, and Special Operations Unit conducted the investigation, with assistance from the Massachusetts State Police and the FBI Boston Violent Crimes Task Force.
Detectives believe the shooting was not a random act of violence and that the individuals involved know one another. Investigators do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public.
The shooting remains under investigation. The identity of the man has not yet been revealed.
