MALDEN, MA — A new cards and games store has opened in Malden Center.
Tabletop Cards and Games officially opened on Friday, Oct. 30, at 61 Exchange St. The approximately 9,000-square-foot location offers trading cards, board games, sports collectibles, and hobby supplies, along with space for customers to play and participate in organized events.
Tabletop Cards and Games carries trading card games including Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, One Piece, Disney Lorcana, and Star Wars: Unlimited. Other offerings include Dungeons & Dragons products, Warhammer miniatures, sports cards, board games, and other role-playing games.
The business is the result of an interest in gaming during the COVID-19 pandemic. Isaiah Bollinger said in a statement that he and John Cymerman began playing and creating board games together in 2020 before deciding to commit to building Prima Entertainment in early 2026. Ahead of the store's opening, Bollinger said the business had developed a Whatnot channel with more than 20,000 followers.
The Malden store is part of Prima Entertainment. The owners previously worked together at Trellis, an e-commerce digital agency founded by Bollinger. Cymerman joined the company as chief technology officer in 2016, and Trellis was later acquired by Zaelab.
Prima Entertainment also operates Prima Collectibles, which focuses on sports card sales primarily through the livestream shopping platform Whatnot, and Prima Boardgames, which designs and publishes original games.
The Exchange Street location includes an in-house board game library, shared paints and brushes, and a private gaming room called "The Dungeon" that accommodates four to eight players. A monthly membership includes access to the library and painting supplies, early preorder access, discounts starting at 5 percent, and the ability to rent the private room for personal events.
Recurring events include a Pokémon tournament at 5:30 p.m. on Mondays and a Star Wars: Unlimited tournament at 6 p.m. on Mondays. Friday Night Magic events run from 6 to 10 p.m. Additional events and registration information are available on the store's online calendar.
The store joins Malden's existing gaming district, with the Malden Gaming District website listing the business among destinations including Boda Borg and Zenith Comics.
Tabletop Cards & Games was also listed among Vacant Storefront Program applications on the state Economic Assistance Coordinating Council's Sept. 23 meeting agenda. The agenda does not indicate whether an award was approved or identify an amount.
The business is open Monday through Friday from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The business describes its location as a five-minute walk from Malden Center's MBTA Orange Line station.
