Person Suffers Life-Threatening Injuries From 2-Alarm Fire in Mansfield

The victim was transported to Rhode Island Hospital by MedFlight with life-threatening injuries.

MANSFIELD, MA — Firefighters responded to a 2-alarm fire on East Street late Wednesday afternoon.

Just after 4:05 p.m., Mansfield fire received a report of a fire at an apartment complex just off of Route 106.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a blaze on the first floor of the building.

One person was unable to escape the building because it was overcome by smoke and fire. Firefighters were able to rescue the person, who was transported to Rhode Island Hospital by MedFlight with life-threatening injuries.

North Attleboro, Plainville, Norton, Foxborough, Attleboro, Walpole and Easton provided mutual aid.

The cause is under investigation. Anyone who witnessed the fire or has video from the scene is asked to contact the Mansfield Fire Department at 508-261-7493.
