3 Plead Guilty In Mansfield Robbery Case

Three men from Lawrence who were charged in connection to several robberies, including one in Mansfield, admitted to the charges Thursday.

David Barker, 39, Efrain Montero, 40, and Jonathan Santos, 35 have pleaded guilty to indictments charging them with the burglary and attempted burglary of thirteen ATMs and commercial businesses during the period of October, 2015 through August 2016, according to the Essex County District Attorney's office.

In October of 2015, the DA's office began an investigation after Mansfield Police began investigating a break-in at the Simply Mac store at Mansfield Crossing. Police learned that phones stolen from the store were being activated in Lawrence. During a 10-month investigation, the suspects conducted more break-ins and the local police department whose towns had been targeted joined in the investigation to share evidence, identify the pattern, and build the case, according to the DA's office.

The investigation culminated in the execution of search warrants in August 2016 at three locations where police seized $82,000 in cash, a 9mm firearm, and the tools, clothing and masks used by the defendants during the break-ins.
