Win Over Franklin Sends Mansfield to Baseball Tourney
The Hornets beat the Panthers 7-1 on the baseball diamond.

Needing a win to clinch a spot in the postseason, the Hornets took no chances against the Franklin Panthers. Building a comfortable lead and not getting complacent, the Hornets beat the Panthers 7-1 to earn a tournament birth and a Senior Day win.
With the victory, the Hornets improve to 10-9 overall and 10-6 in league play.
After leading off the bottom of the second inning with a single, Adam Blake gave the Hornets the opening run of the game. Later in the inning, Zac Sarro would get to home plate to make it a 2-0 game after two innings.

Despite a Panthers run in the top of fourth inning, two more runs from Cam Nagle and Craig Sarro made it a 5-1 game in the bottom of the fourth.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, Joe Upham’s single allowed Nagle to score and Michael Boen scoring on a passed ball from third locked up the Mansfield win.

On the mound, Blake struck out six and gave up only one run.
The Hornets travel to Oliver Ames on May 23.
