Baby Ducks Saved from Mansfield Drain

Mansfield, MA - Even the smallest and cutest animals sometimes need a hand from the Mansfield Police Department.

On June 10, a passerby on Eastman Street near Mystic Lane reported a paddling of baby ducks that were stuck in a storm drain. Animal Control Officer Jeff Collins was able to respond and free the ducklings from the drain with assistance from public works employees.

Collins attempted to find the mother duck, but the search was unsuccessful.

Baby ducks falling into storm drains are not uncommon. If often happens when the mother duck walks across a drain.
