Boylston Man Charged with Beating Girlfriend After Chris Brown Concert at Xfinity Center

A 22-year-old from Boylston has been ordered held in jail after allegedly beating his girlfriend twice, including at the Red Roof Inn at Mansfield after a Chris Brown concert at the Xfinity Center.

Judge Julianne Hernon ordered Joshua Igwenagu held without bail during a dangerousness hearing Wednesday according to the Sun Chronicle. He is accused of beating his girlfriend Sunday morning after the concert in Mansfield.

The victim told police that Igwenagu threw her into a bathtub, stepped on her chest, and threatened her with a knife.

Igwenagu’s attorney argued for house arrested with GPS monitoring while Assistant District Attorney Melissa Tafe said jail was the only way to assure the victim’s safety.

The case was continued to Sept. 17.
