Is it just me or are there others out there who have been deceived by the phone company, into believing that recent upgrades to our telephone lines are necessary and in fact, mandatory? When contacted recently, we were told upgrades were being done in our area, that we should contact the company to schedule an appointment. When the technician arrived, I again asked if this was in fact necessary-- stating that we had not requested this work and that we had no intention of bundling our phone, internet, and cable service with his or any company. Again he assured me this was a necessary service upgrade.
Unfortunately, it seems we have been tricked and now if everything I read is true, we can never get our old reliable copper line back. And, if what I read is true, in the event of a major power outage, we will no longer have telephone service.
I would love to hear from others in the community-- and by all means, please correct me if I'm wrong. But considering no one from the local office has returned our calls I have to believe we've been screwed. There's just no better way to say it.
