The Winter Transition; How to Ease Your Yard Into Winter
Just because your lawn care regiment ceases during the winter months doesn't mean your yard care does. Protect your plants and lawn now for a great transition into spring.
In Massachusetts, the weather has turned from chilly to cold, and soon, we’ll be seeing a whole lot more white on our lawns. This is the end of lawn care in our area, however just because your lawn care regiment ceases during the winter months doesn’t mean your yard care does. There are many things to remember as you transition your yard from late fall and into early winter.
Plants can incur a lot of damage during the winter months if you do not protect them. Wind and cold are extremely harsh on the plants. To protect them, you can use protective sprays. These sprays will ensure that your plants will not perspire. Also, don’t forget to spray against deer. Winter food shortages can force deer to look to your plants as food, destroying them and even killing them.
When the heavy snows begin, there are two things to keep in mind to protect your lawn and home. Be sure to invest in a good snow rake to prevent against home damage. The heavy snows need to be raked out of gutters immediately. Once that snow hits, we all need to de-ice our walk ways and driveways. Pay close attention to the ice melt you purchase. Some ice melts can do major damage to your lawn.
