Break-in Suspect Charged After License Found at Scene

An alleged break-in suspect from Mansfield might have gotten away with it if he didn’t leave one thing behind at the scene - his ID.

On Nov. 12 at 12:14 a.m., a caller on Maple Street told police that someone broke into his home about 25 minutes earlier and stole property from the residence, according to the Mansfield Police Log.

Outside, the reporting party found the suspect’s license in his driveway. The suspect was given five minutes to return the property by the victim.

Police checked the suspect’s home for his car and talked to his sister before issuing John Carney, 21, a summons for breaking and entering into a building in the nighttime for a felony, larceny under $250, and larceny over $250.
