Bunny Masked Mansfield Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested
The suspect is also accused of robbing convenience stores in Attleboro and Providence, while wearing a monkey mask.
MANSFIELD, MA — A woman accused of robbing a Cumberland Farms at gunpoint last month while wearing a bunny mask was arrested Thursday in Providence. Ashley Weaver, 28, of Providence, also robbed convenience stores in Providence and Attleboro while wearing a monkey mask and shot the Attleboro store clerk during the confrontation, Rhode Island State Police said. She was charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault with a firearm, illegal possession of a firearm, resisting arrest, fugitive from justice, disorderly conduct, and firearm violation with a prior violent crime charge.
Over the last two weeks, Mansfield, Attleboro, and Rhode Island State Police investigated the robberies and identified Weaver as the suspect. Police said they found her leaving her Providence home and pulled over the vehicle she was in. After a violent struggle, Weaver was taken into custody, police said. Police said they found a gun that matched the description of what was used in the three armed robberies, a bunny mask, and other evidence linking Weaver to the crimes.
According to Mansfield police, Weaver robbed the Cumberland Farms on Chauncy Street around 12:25 a.m., on May 24. Police said Weaver stormed the store, pulled a gun on the clerk, and stole an undisclosed amount of cash from the register.
