Carbon Monoxide Confirmed as Cause of Death for Mansfield Residents in Maine
Accidental carbon monoxide poisoning has been deemed the cause of death for Matthew Wakelin, Brooke Wakelin, Keith Norris, and Deanna Powers

The Maine Medical Examiner’s officer has ruled that accidental carbon monoxide poisoning is the official cause of death for four Mansfield and Attleboro residents.
Police had said the deaths were likely from carbon monoxide were awaiting the results toxicology tests according to the Bangor Daily News. The results did not show any other substance present besides carbon monoxide.
On July 17, Brooke Wakelin, 21, of Attleboro, Massachusetts, her brother Matthew, 18, of Mansfield, Massachusetts, Keith Norris, 23, of Attleboro, Massachusetts, and Deanna Powers, 22, of Mansfield, Massachusetts, were found dead in a cabin in Byron, Maine.

The father of the Wakelins discovered the bodies that evening.
Investigators at the cabin discovered a generator in the basement that was never turned off and ran through an entire tank of gas. Fumes that should have gone outside instead remained in the cabin, killing the four and a dog.
