Charges Dropped Against Man Accused of Sexual Assault

MANSFIELD, MA - A man accused of sexually assaulting a woman will have the charge against him dropped after the alleged victim didn’t appear in Attleboro District Court.
Jorel Alfred, 43, who lives in a Boston homeless shelter, was released from custody Wednesday, according to the Sun Chronicle.
In December, Alfred was accused of sexually assaulting a woman while she was asleep in a car at Mansfield Gas on Chauncy Street. Initially a rape charge, it was reduced to sexual assault on Jan. 7.

The victim also didn’t appear in court last month.
Joshua Werner of Easton, who represented Alfred, said the woman was under the influence of a narcotic and questioned whether she would testify.
