Charlestown Man Charged With Distributing Cocaine in Mansfield Avoids Jail Time

Elias O. Rodriguez will be placed on probation and subjected to random drug tests as part of a plea bargain.

A Charlestown man will avoid jail time after admitted to possessing and intending to distribute 22 grams of cocaine found during a traffic stop in Mansfield earlier this year.

Elias O. Rodriguez, 33, was originally sentenced to serve three months of a two-year jail sentence with credit for three months spent in jail on bail according to the Sun Chronicle; but Attleboro District Court Judge Daniel O’Shea suspended the balance of the jail term. Instead, Rodriguez will go on probation, undergo a drug evaluation, and submit to random drug tests pending the recommendation of the probation department.

If Rodriguez does not comply with his probation, he could be sentenced to two years in jail.
