Committee of 11 Will Help Find Mansfield's Next Superintendent

Mansfield will use an 11-person search committee to help find a new superintendent.

A search committee of 11 members will be responsible for helping find and interview potential candidates for Mansfield Public Schools’ open superintendent position

Discussing the search at the Aug. 26 meeting of the school committee, the committee said the search group will include town officials, employees of the school district, and parents.

According to chair Michael Trowbridge, expected members of the committee include town manager Bill Ross, a member of the Mansfield Board of Selectmen likely to be Jess Aptowitz, special education director Bernadette Conroy, Jordan-Jackson School principal Teresa Murphy, two school committee members to be named later, two parents to be announced, and Mansfield High School band director Matt Maguire.

The actual search for a new superintendent is expected to start next month. In addition to the search committee, the Massachusetts Association of School Committees will be used as a consultant during the process. The school committee hopes to have the ad and description for the position posted around Sept. 8.
