Driver Fled Serious Hit-And-Run: Cops

MANSFIELD, MA — The driver of a vehicle involved in an early morning crash fled the scene before police arrived, officers said.

At around 1:10 a.m. Friday, Mansfield Police received 911 calls reporting a serious crash on Gilbert Street in the area of Otis Street. Officers at the scene scene located a heavily damaged unoccupied vehicle resting on its side in the roadway, according to the Mansfield Police Department.

Witnesses told police that the driver fled on foot. A search of the area was unsuccessful and called off at 3 a.m.
