Driver In Highway Car Fire Charged With OUI

Police say the driver of a car that crashed off of I-95 North near the Foxborough-Mansfield line was drunk at the time.

MANSFIELD, MA — The driver in a crash that led to a car fire last weekend faces criminal charges, police said.

Michael Maynard, 21, of Lakeville, was arraigned in Attleboro District Court Tuesday on charges of operating under the influence of liquor, driving to endanger and a marked lanes violation, according to the Sun Chronicle. He is free on personal recognizance.

Just after 3:30 a.m. Dec. 30, firefighters from Mansfield and Foxborough and Massachusetts State Police responded to a multi-vehicle car crash on the highway, near the Interstate 495 exit. At the scene, firefighters found a two-car crash, including one on fire. State Police say Maynard's blood alcohol content level was twice the legal limit.
