Driver Injured in Mansfield Crash

Police say a vehicle crossed Branch Street and struck a tree head-on.

MANSFIELD, MA — A Mansfield man was injured following a car crash on Branch Street Tuesday.

During the day, police and firefighters responded to the area of 420 Branch Street for a reported crash, according to the Mansfield Police Department Upon arrival, responders found a vehicle that crashed into a large tree.

The driver and lone occupant of the vehicle was able to exit the vehicle and was treated by Mansfield fire at the scene. He declined a transport to the hospital, police said.

A preliminary investigation indicates that the vehicle was heading east on Branch Street and exited the right shoulder. The driver over-corrected, traveled across the other lane, and struck a tree head on, police said.

The driver was issued a citation.

One lane on the road remained open following the crash.
