Early Morning Mansfield Crash: Man Charged With OUI
A Lincoln, Rhode Island man faces charges after allegedly driving off of Route 140 during a car crash.
MANSFIELD, MA — A Lincoln, Rhode Island man faces charges after allegedly driving off of Route 140 during a car crash.
James Smith, 31, was placed under arrest early Wednesday morning and charged with operating under the influence of liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and marked lanes violation.
Just past 4 a.m., Mansfield police and fire responded to a one-car crash near Erin's Place and Shaw's on Route 140 South. Officers at the scene found an unoccupied white pickup truck well off the roadway. The operator, identified as Smith, was found nearby making a phone call. Smith was evaluated by Mansfield fire and transported to Sturdy Memorial Hospital, where he was further evaluated before being released.

Smith was later taken to Attleboro District Court for his arraignment.
