Family of Road Rage Victim 'Devastated' by Suspect's Statement

Michael Hinds of Norton allegedly said, "I smashed into someone. It's not like I killed anyone," as he was being arrested a fatal car crash.

A statement from a 67-year-old Norton man accused of killing a Foxborough man in a drunken road rage incident on Route 495 in Mansfield has left the victim’s family devastated.

According to reports from the arraignment of Michael Hinds at Attleboro District Court, Hinds told police that he was cut off by the other driver, Jarrad Aronne, 37, of Foxborough, using profane language to describe him.

“I smashed into someone. It’s not like I killed anyone,” the suspect told police.

Gasps could be heard in the courtroom when Assistant District Attorney Stephen Nadeau Sr. read the statement in the courtroom, according to the Sun Chronicle.

“That hurt right here,” Patricia Santos, the fiancee of the victim, told reporters outside the courthouse. “He was my world, my best friend and my soulmate.”
