Few Details Released About Friday Night's Standoff

A MetroLEC team was called to the scene after a man police were attempting to arrest barricaded himself inside a home.

MANSFIELD, MA — Few details have been released about Friday's incident on Jewell Road and it's unlikely more will come from the Mansfield Police Department.

The Mansfield Police Log identifies the person arrested as a 43-year-old who was charged with assault and battery on a family/household member. Due to state law, incidents involving domestic violence are sealed and few details can be made public.

Police went to a home on the street at 7:15 p.m. Friday to arrest the man as part of an investigation that started about two hours earlier. Officers determined that the man was not home, but locked inside a neighbor's home, according to a release from the Mansfield Police Department.

A MetroLEC Tactical team and a Crisis Negotiating Team were called to the scene and the man surrendered an hour later.
