FinCom Chair, Attleboro Mayor Among Town Manager Finalists

The three finalists for the opening were announced Thursday night.

MANSFIELD, MA — One local official and two from nearby communities have been named the finalists for the town manager opening.

Mansfield Finance Committee Chairman Walter Wilk, former Stoughton Town Manager Michael Hartman, and outgoing Attleboro Mayor Kevin Dumas will be interviewed by the selectmen for the opening, selectmen Chairman Michael Trowbridge confirmed.

The three candidates were named finalists by the town manager search committee by a unanimous vote.

Mansfield has been without a permanent town manager since March when Bill Ross abruptly resigned from his position for reasons not publicly disclosed. Since Ross' departure, Town Accountant and Finance Director John Stanbrook has served as the interim town manager.

Finalist interviews will take place at a selectmen meeting to be announced. Following the interviews, the selectmen will vote to determine the next town manager.

If Hartman or Dumas are selected for the position, they will have one year to move to Mansfield, as required by the town charter.
