Full-Time Tuition-Free Kindergarten, New Textbooks Among Items in Mansfield School Budget

Full-day kindergarten for all students, new textbooks, and new staff are just some of the requests in the Mansfield Public Schools proposed $47.1 million budget.
The full-day kindergarten, which would be tuition-free, is expected to costs $440,000 principal John Nieratko told the Mansfield School Committee during a budget hearing according to the Sun Chronicle.
The high school’s proposed budget shows an increase of $537,741 to cover the costs of an assistant principal, an academic learning center teacher, new textbooks and an increase in the athletics budget.

The Qualters Middle School’s $320,463 budget promotes the school’s secretary, replaces old textbooks, desks, and chairs.
The Jordan-Jackson School’s budget has increased by about $20,000 for a total of $272,321. The budget features a new math teacher, a library media assistant, new grammar and math pilot program, and new desk, chairs, and filing cabinets.
