How Do Bristol County Commute Times Compare?

New U.S. Census data reveals how much time you are wasting getting to work.

If it seems like you spent more time sitting in your car last year, you could be on to something.

The average commute time for Bristol County workers age 16 or over increased by more than two minutes from 2014 to 2015, according to new census numbers.

The U.S. Census survey estimates Bristol County residents took an average of 29 minutes to get to work in 2015, up substantially from 26.6 minutes in 2014.

Other notes from the survey showed that 3.3 percent of the 270,051 workers work from home, up from 2.9 percent; that 2.8 percent walk to work, up from 2.3; and that 81 percent drove in alone, down from 82. 5 percent.

Statewide, it took the nearly 3,500,000 workers 29.7 minutes to get to work, an increase of almost two minutes compared to 2011.

Nationwide, the average travel time was 26.4 minutes in 2015, an increase of more than a minute compared to five years earlier.
