Hyannis Man Assaulted Bristol County Deputy Sheriff Outside Mansfield Store: Police

MANSFIELD, MA — A Hyannis man assaulted a Bristol County deputy sheriff outside a connivence store following a show at the Xfinity Center, police said.
Daniel Foley, 26, of Hyannis, was arrested early Sunday at the Xtra Mart on South Main Street and charged with assault and battery on a police officer, trespassing, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct. A 26-year-old woman from Falmouth was taken into protective custody, according to the Mansfield Police Log.
At 12:31 a.m., the deputy was on patrol at the store when he saw Foley and the woman sitting outside the store, according to the Sun Chronicle.A few minutes later, Foley allegedly verbally abused the woman and clerk and was asked not come back into the store. When they tried to go in, the deputy told them they were trespassing and had to leave. Foley allegedly resisted arrested and was only restrained with the assistance of an ambulance attendant.

Foley was arraigned Monday and is due back in court on Sept. 8.
