To kick off National Preparedness month for September the Plainville, Mansfield, and Norton Emergency Management Agencies are offering a joint Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program. This program will begin Wednesday night, September 17th, and end on Nov 15th. Classes will run from 7- 9:30 PM at the Plainville Senior Center 9 School St Plainville MA 02762.
CERT training is a nine (9) week program meeting once a week, including CPR/First Aid/AED certification training and final exercise on two separate Saturdays. The Mansfield/Norton/Plainville CERT program follows the national and state standards and the needs of our community. This program is open to all and will be limited to 30 participants. You must complete all classes to receive a CERT certificate and be eligible to apply for membership to Mansfield, Norton or Plainville CERT Team and Emergency Management Agency. This program is being offered at NO COST as a community outreach service by Mansfield/Norton/Plainville EMA and CERT Teams
Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT) is a Citizen Corps program. Visit the CERT web site at www.citizencorps.gov/cert.
There will also be will be an optional CPR/First Aid/AED Training certification for attendees in addition to the CERT course. In this course, students learn skills such as how to treat bleeding, sprains, broken bones, shock and other first aid emergencies. This course also teaches adult, child and infant CPR and AED use. Upon successful completion of the course, including a First Aid, CPR and AED skills test, students receive a Heartsaver First Aid/CPR/AED course completion card, valid for 2 years.
