Joint Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training Offered
To kick off National Volunteer Week in April Local Emergency Management Agencies are offering a joint (CERT) FREE Training Course.
To kick off National Volunteer Week in April the Attleboro / Bristol County Sheriff / Foxborough / Mansfield / Norton / Plainville / Rehoboth / Seekonk and Wrentham Emergency Management Agencies are offering a joint Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program. This program will begin Wednesday night, April 22nd, running for 9 consecutive Wednesday nights. Classes will run from 7- 9:30 PM at the South Attleboro Fire Station 1476 West Street Attleboro MA 02073. There will be a final exercise and graduation on Saturday Morning June 20th.
The Joint CERT program follows the national and state standards and the needs of our community. CERT training consists of nine (9) modules. The topics covered are; Emergency Preparedness, Fire Suppression, Medical Triage & Treatment, Mass Casualty Events, Terrorism, Hazardous Materials, CERT Organization, Search & Rescue and Disaster Psychology. This program is open to all and will be limited to 30 participants. Satisfactory Course completion is required for you to receive a CERT certificate and be eligible to apply for membership to your local CERT Team and Emergency Management Agency. This program is being offered at NO COST as a community outreach service by the Greater Attleboro Regional Planning Committee and its member Communities EMAs and CERT groups.

There will also be an optional CPR/First Aid/AED Training certification for attendees in addition to the CERT course. This course will be held on an additional Saturday. In this course students learn skills such as how to treat bleeding, sprains, broken bones, shock and other first aid emergencies. This course also teaches adult, child and infant CPR and AED use. Upon successful completion of the course, including a First Aid, CPR and AED skills test, students receive a Heartsaver First Aid/CPR/AED course completion card, valid for 2 years.
