K9 Leads Police to Mansfield OUI Crash Suspect
State police say the driver fled his car following a crash on Interstate 495.

MANSFIELD, MA — A driver was taken into custody after an alleged crash on Interstate 495 in Mansfield, state police said.
Just past midnight early Thursday morning, state police in Foxborough received a 911 call reporting the crash. Witnesses at the scene told troopers that the driver fled the crash into the woods.
A K9 dog was able to track a scent and search the embankment, according to the Massachusetts State Police. The dog continued to track the scent down Route 140 and into the swampy woods. After continuing through the tall grass and heavy brush, troopers could hear someone running ahead of them. Despite orders to stop, the person allegedly kept running. The suspect was arrested shortly after leaving the woods and was captured by a Mansfield police officer.The suspect, whose name was not released, was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of liquor, leaving the scene of a property damage crash, marked lanes violation and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
