Kemp, Hornets Too Much For The Foxborough Warriors
After scoring 3 goals early on, the Hornets put away the Foxborough Warriors with a 4-0 win.

A lot can happen in the first six minutes of a game. It can go by like any other part of the game or it can completely change the tempo and momentum. The opening six minutes was all Mansfield needed to put away their rival Foxborough. After scoring three goals early on, the Hornets easily put away the Warriors with a 4-0 win.
The strong Mansfield showing was led by a three-goal performance from Rebecca Kemp. Going to work right after the opening whistle, Kemp scored in font of the net off a quick pass from Kailee Paulson to give the Hornets a 1-0 lead.
“We actually have a sort of a designed movement of where people attack when we get in the box and the wings like that and they executed that one quite well,” said Mansfield Coach Kevin Smith.

Kemp wasn’t done after the first goal. Coming from the right end, Kemp scored a second goal off a shot over the keepers’ head in the third minute to increase the lead to 2-0.
A final goal from Kemp came three minutes later when Paige Grimes was able to get the ball near the net to allow for a header by Kemp for the hat trick and a 3-0 lead at the 6th minute.

“She just crashed the net and put her head in," said Smith.
A fourth goal from Jennifer Esposito in the 23rd minute gave the Hornets a 4-0 lead. The shot from the far right put an already tough game out of reach, as the Warriors couldn’t find a way to come back.
Foxborough did show signs of life in the second half. A more intense Warriors team showed new intensity in the second half but couldn’t find the back of the net.
“I think these girls never give up and they continue to always fight,” said Foxboro coach Caitlin Annicelli. “We just need to be more consistent during the entire game.”
For Mansfield, the newfound intensity led to a switch to the more defensive 4-5-1 formation to preserve the shutout.
“They put us under so much pressure in that second half it was hard for us to workout,” said Smith.
With the win the Hornets are 4-3-3 while the Warriors are now 0-9-0.
Next up for both teams will be a quickly scheduled rematch. The Warriors will travel to Mansfield on Monday Oct. 3rd. Match time is scheduled for 6:00pm.
