Lightning Storm Cuts the Power for Mansfield Residents
About 2,200 homes in Mansfield lost power during the thunderstorm in Mansfield on Wednesday night and early Thursday Morning

For a town known for not losing power during bad weather, there were quite a few power outages around Mansfield Wednesday night and early Thursday morning.
Mansfield Municipal Electric Department director Gary Babin told the Sun Chronicle that outages started to occur around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday after a bolt of lightning struck power lines on Gilbert Street.
In total, over 2,200 customers lost electricity during the storm with almost 270 not having their power restored until 5:30 Thursday morning.

The outage effected customers on Gilbert Street, Fruit Street, School Street, areas of West Street, and the Cabot Industrial Park.
