Lightning Strikes Transformer in Mansfield

MANSFIELD, MA — The lighting that made its way across the region Friday night had a brief stop in Mansfield, firefighters say.

Just before 9 p.m., the Mansfield Fire Department responded to a reported transformer fire at 11 Bonney Ln. Reports say that the building was struck by lightning with fire crews reporting fire from the transformer pole on the west side of the building. A resident told firefighters that lightning also struck the building.

Crews at the building found minimal damage to the building and no fire.

All firefighters at the scene were cleared to leave a short time later.
