MANSFIELD, MA — One of the area's most controversial figures drew protesters and chants during an appearance in Mansfield Saturday morning.
About 15 people held signs and chanted "shame, shame" when Bristol County Sheriff Tom Hodgson arrived for the Mansfield Republican Town Committee's breakfast at Jimmy's Pub.
Protest organizers told the Sun Chronicle they wanted to let Hodgson know that they are not fond of his positions on immigration or his politics.

When he arrived, Hodgson reportedly waived to the crowd and thanked them for coming. He later said he respects their right to protest.
Hodgson has made headlines for several controversial statements, including offering Bristol County inmates to help build a wall on the U.S.-Mexican boarder and stating that elected officials in sanctuary cities should be arrested.
