Mansfield Best Buy Thieves Also Hit Up Braintree Store: Cops

Police say this was not the first time the suspect tried to rob the electronics store.

MANSFIELD, MA — It turns out that an attempted robbery at the Mansfield Best Buy was not the suspect's first go at the crime, police said.

Mansfield Police said Thursday that the wanted men are the same suspects in a similar crime that took place at the Braintree Best Buy. The Braintree store told Mansfield police that items had been removed during the weekend before Christmas, with surveillance footage confirming the match.

In video posted on the Mansfield Police Department Facebook page, the suspects can be seen attempting to leave the Mansfield store without paying for the laptops. Both men dropped the items when they were confronted and fled towards a getaway car.

Police say the vehicle fled onto Route 140 and then Interstate 495 South, where the vehicle, a Toyota Camry sped down the breakdown lane at speeds over 100 mph. The vehicle then went across Route 123 East in Norton, turning on Taunton Avenue and then Dean Street. Police initially chased the vehicle but had to back off once it became too dangerous.
