Mansfield Boy Called Hero for Calling 911 During Emergency

MANSFIELD, MA — A young Mansfield boy is being called a hero after remembering to call 911 in an emergency.

Wednesday morning, the Mansfield Fire Department presented 6-year-old Ethan Walden with the Young Hero Award. A few months ago, Ethan called 911 after his mother had an emergency. Walden said he was taught to call the emergency number by his brother. While on the phone, the child was able to calmly talk to the dispatcher and help emergency responders get to his house.

An official presentation at will be scheduled with the Mansfield Schools in the fall, according to the Mansfield Fire Department.
