Mansfield Business Appealing Medical Marijuana Dispensary

A company in Cabot Business Park has filed an appealing a decision to allow a medical marijuana dispensary to open up nearby.

MANSFIELD, MA — Town officials may have opened the door for a medical marijuana dispensary to set up shop in the Cabot Business Park, but a nearby company is hoping to close it.

Town Manager Bill Ross told the selectmen Wednesday night that a business has filed an appeal in court against votes made by the Planning Board and Zoning Board of Appeals to allow for the construction of a medical marijuana dispensary by CommCann Inc.

The complain, filed by attorneys Benjamin Tyman and Brian Wells on behalf of West Street Associates, says that were not notified of the hearings and argues that the facility will lower the value of their property, according to the Sun Chronicle.

Special permits for the project were approved by both boards late last year. The selectmen voted to accept a mitigation agreement in September.

The dispensary will be located inside a portion of the business park that was zoned for the use and approved at Town Meeting.
