Mansfield Community Farm Seeks CSA Members

From the Hockomock Area YMCA: The Hockomock Area YMCA is accepting registrations for the Mansfield Community Farm and Garden’s Family CSA Share Program: an opportunity to receive fresh, local produce on a weekly basis.

Located on Essex Street in Mansfield, the Mansfield Community Farm and Gardens is a collaboration between the Town of Mansfield and the Hockomock Area YMCA. The mission of the Mansfield Community Farm and Gardens is to educate and involve the local community in growing and learning about fresh produce, and to promote healthy and active lifestyles. The Farm team abstains from using any pesticides or chemical fertilizers. Free community workshops and service learning opportunities are also available throughout the season, and the YMCA team is always looking for volunteers throughout the season for short term and long term projects.

The veggie share CSA program is open to all community members, and runs $425 for the 20 week season. The produce in the share will vary, but the team will strive to produce a typical CSA Share of produce each week which may include: kale, chard, bok choy, arugula, tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, cabbage, squashes, cucumbers, broccoli, melon, beans, peas, onion, potatoes, radish, beets, turnips, carrots, herbs, and more. Due to the unpredictability of the growing season, varieties and quantities of vegetables may vary.

Pickup will take place at the Mansfield Community Farm and Gardens on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Pick up will begin around the beginning of June and run until the middle of October.

All members are required to fill out a contract which can be found online here or by emailing communitygarden@hockymca.org. Completed contracts can be sent with payment to Hockomock Area YMCA c/o Community Gardens, 67 Mechanic St, Foxboro MA 02035. You can also register in person at the Invensys Foxboro YMCA member service desk.
