Mansfield Crash Cuts Off Electricity, Driver Charged with OUI

Power was restored to the Elm Street area by 6:30 a.m. Wednesday.

MANSFIELD, MA - An Attleboro woman crashed into a pole while drunk and caused a power outage, police said.

Kaylee O’Brien, 25, was arrested Wednesday morning and charged with operating under the influence of alcohol, operating a motor vehicle to endanger, and a marked lanes violation.

At about 12:32 a.m., police received several 911 calls reporting a vehicle that crashed into a pole on Elm Street. When police arrived on the scene, they observed a telephone pole that was broken in two places and a heavily damaged Toyota Carolla about 200 feet away.

Police found O'Brian at the scene allegedly standing outside of the vehicle and talking on her cell phone. O'Brien was treated by Mansfield fire before she was taken into custody.

Mansfield Electric Light Department replaced the pole and power was restored to the area by 6:30 a.m.

O'Brien is scheduled to be arraigned in Attleboro District Court today.
