Mansfield Crash: One Person Killed On I-95

The crash happened at 5:25 a.m. Saturday morning.

MANSFIELD, MA — One person is dead following a fiery crash on Interstate 95 in Mansfield.

At about 5:25 a.m., state police responded to a crash on the northbound side of the highway, at the 10 mile-marker, near the rest area in Mansfield. At the scene, troopers found a 2015 Ford F250 that struck the rear of a 2015 Kenworth tractor-trailer, which was disabled in the breakdown lane with a flat tire. Upon crashing into the rear of the trailer, the F250 immediately caught fire, state police said.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, a 56-year-old man from Providence Rhode Island, suffered minor injuries and refused immediate medical treatment.

A preliminary investigation has revealed the F250 was driving at a high rate of speed in the breakdown lane prior to the crash. The driver and only occupant of the F250 pickup, was determined to be dead at the crash scene. The driver has not been identified.

The right two lanes were closed for until midday as police removed the victim from the vehicle.
