Mansfield Has Five of the Most Dangerous Intersections in Southeastern Mass.

The new study comes from the Southeastern Regional Planning and Economic Development District.

Ever feel like going through some of the intersections around town is a bit of a risk? Chances are that you’re right.

A new study of the 100 most dangerous intersections in the region from the Southeastern Regional Planning and Economic Development District has five entries in Mansfield, including one in the top 10.

The intersection of Route 140 and 106, which had a serious car crash last week, ranked the highest at number six with 64 crashes between 2010 and 2012. Not far behind is the Route 140-School Street intersection with 61.

Route 106 and North Main Street is at number 20 with 53 crashes, Route 106 and Copeland Drive came in at number 58 with 26 crashes, and Route 106 and Forbes Boulevard was the fifth Mansfield entry at number 76 and 28 crashes.

Topping the list was the intersection of Plymouth Avenuenue and Rodman Street in Fall River with 109 crashes.

The results were created by using crash data for 2010 through 2012 to identify the most dangerous locations in the region.
