Mansfield High Choir to Perform With Foreigner

The high schoolers will join the rock band for a performance Thursday night at the Xfinity Center.

On Thursday night, the Mansfield High School choir will tell the Xfinity Center that they want to know what love is.

25 members of the choir will join rock legends Foreigner on stage to help sing the band’s hit song “I Want to Know What Love is.”

According to choir teacher Sheila Newton, the Xfinity Center inquired about the use of the students about a month ago. She said the singers are thrilled about the chance to perform a song they love at their hometown venue.

This isn’t the first time singers from Mansfield High School have been requested by a major act performing at the concert venue. According to Newton, the choir performed with Shania Twain years ago during a stop in Mansfield.

After Foreigner wraps up, the kids will have a chance to see Kid Rock headline the evening.

One of the top rock bands of the 70s and 80s, Foreigner is remembered for such hits as “Feels Like the First Time,” “Cold as Ice,” “Double Vision,” and “Juke Box Hero.” “I Want to Know What Love is,” is perhaps the band’s most successful song, topping the Billboard Top 100 in 1984.

Thursday’s show starts at 6:45 p.m. with the Parkway Handle Band taking the stage before Foreigner.
