Mansfield Local Cultural Council Grants Awarded
The Mansfield Local Cultural Council (MLCC) awarded grants to the following recipients to aid in projects featuring art, culture, and science in our community: The Doll E Daze project at the National Black Doll Museum of History and Culture, Bay Colony Productions, Inc., Attleboro Arts Museum, The Un-Common Theatre Company, Qualters Middle School Parent Advisory Council, Hornithology Summer Horn Ensemble, Qualters Middle School Drama program, John Root with Songbirds of the Northeast, Mansfield Public Library, Mansfield Council on Aging, SMARTS Collaborative, Making Music with Ellen Hoffman, Combating Hate and Prejudice with Janet Applefield, Marsha Wright - Self Help Inc Coordinated Family and Community, Attleboro Community Theatre, and Fuller Craft Museum.
Among the projects funded were three presentations for the Mansfield Council on Aging including magic and game show entertainment. Four awards went to the Un-Common Theatre Company to help cover costs for their student centered theatrical productions. Qualters Middle School’s award helped fund their conservation program of endangered species, Blandings Turtles. The ongoing school year program had partnered with Mass Audubon to observe and share their data across the state and release the turtles at Drumlin Farm in the spring. Doll E Daze American Black Doll Museum was awarded for three community events including a Kwanzaa celebration featuring authentic food, African drummers, and storytelling.

MLCC would like to thank the Town of Mansfield for its contribution of funds which enables Mansfield-area organizations including schools, libraries, and theaters, to continue to offer quality cultural programming for residents.
MLCC is part of a network of 329 Local Cultural Councils serving all 351 cities and towns in the Commonwealth. The LCC Program is the largest grassroots cultural funding network in the nation, supporting thousands of community-based projects in the arts, sciences and humanities every year. The state legislature provides an annual appropriation to the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency, which then allocates funds to each community.

The MLCC are currently accepting applications for the 2015-2016 grant cycle. You can download an application from: www.mass-culture.org/Mansfield#. All applications must be postmarked by October 15, 2015.
