Mansfield Man Charged with Assaulting Woman and Child with Knife

A Mansfield man was arrested Thursday afternoon after allegedly attacking a woman and a baby with a knife.

David Brock, 27, was charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon according to the Mansfield Police Department.

At around 2:06 p.m., police received a 911 call from a female inside an apartment on Francis Avenue. The caller told police that a male, identified as Brock, was in the apartment went after her and her baby with a knife. The caller was able to make it to the balcony of the apartment while Brock was still armed and inside the apartment.

All available Mansfield sector patrol officers responded to the apartment, where they located the female caller and a toddler on the second-floor balcony. Officers were able to secure the perimeter of the building while Sgt. Michael Ellsworth, Officer William Trudell and Officer Matthew Souza made entry into the apartment from the second-floor hall entrance.

Brock was taken into custody at gunpoint and without incident. Police recovered two knives from the apartment that the subject had stashed in the tank of the apartments toilet prior to police entry.

Brock will likely be arraigned Friday morning in Attleboro District Court.

Neither the mother or the child were injured in the incident.
