Mansfield Man Charged With OUI Following Five-Town Chase

Police say they attempted to pull over Brett Walker in Norton, but he sped away towards I-495.

NORTON, MA — A Mansfield man was arrested Wednesday after leading police on a five-town chase.

Brett Walker, 23, faces charges of operating under the influence of alcohol, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, failure to stop for police, operating a motor vehicle while license suspended and speeding, according to the Norton Police Department

At about 10:30 p.m., Patrolman John Worrall attempted to stop a vehicle on East Main Street for speeding. The vehicle, a Nissan Altima operated by Walker, entered Interstate 495 South from the East Main Street ramp and continued down the highway, police said. The vehicle exited I-495 and traveled through Taunton, Raynham, Easton, and Mansfield before finally stopping in Mansfield at the entrance to Canoe River Campground on Mill Street.

After stopping, Walker attempted to run away from officers and was arrested following a foot chase.

Police say Walker attempted to elude police by traveling at a high rate of speed, making abrupt turns, as well as stopping at an intersection only to speed away as officers approached the vehicle.

Walker was arraigned in Attleboro District Court Thursday morning.
