Mansfield Native Drafted by Washington Nationals

Between earning a return trip to the College World Series and getting drafted by the Washington Nationals, it’s been a pretty good week for Mansfield’s Rhett Wiseman.

On Tuesday, the junior outfielder for the Commodores was selected in the third round as the 103rd overall pick in the Major League Baseball Draft.

MLB.com’s scouting report called Wiseman one of Vanderbilt’s best performers during the 2014 College World Series, adding that while he doesn’t have a carrying tool, he does a little bit of everything and plays with intensity. The website called his average power his most useful too.

Wiseman and the rest of the Commodores will kick off the College World Series against Cal State Fullerton on June 14.
